West Kirkby Beach,
LJMU Sustainability team are hosting a beach clean and we wantyou to be part of it!
As we pick up litter on the beach, we’ll be recording what we’ve collected. We’ll provide this data to the Marine Conservation Society who monitor what is found on beaches all around the UK and Northern Ireland every year, which helps to track progress and drive policy change. Examples of how this data has been used includes the introduction of the plastic bag charge, banning microplastics in personal care products, better wet wipe labelling, and supporting a tax on single-use plastic items.
We’ll be meeting at Student Life Building at Liverpool Lime Street station at 9.30am on Friday 21st February and getting the train to West Kirby and walk over to the beach. The event is from 11am-1pm and afterwards you’ll be free to return to Liverpool or enjoy the local area and the cafés, shops, or walks available.
(Train times - Liverpool Lime St depart - 10.08am (arrives 10.44am). Return train at 1.19pm will get back to Liverpool Lime St at 1.53pm.
All equipment will be provided, and we’ll be paying for return train tickets for anyone who would like to attend.
