What is Support Mapping? 📑

Support mapping is an opportunity for every student to create a bespoke list of contacts, information and links specific to their study programme, living situation and support needs. 

Our facilitator from the Student Advice and Wellbeing department will guide you through the process of mapping out all the support services available to you, both within the university and externally. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a comprehensive support map that is uniquely yours.

Unlike a generic poster listing university services, your support map will reflect your individual needs. Whether you include contacts from the international team, the disability or inclusion services, or a mix of other resources, your map will be as diverse as our student community. We understand that university life can be challenging, and we want to ensure you know that support is always available. During the workshop, our facilitator will be on hand to answer any questions and get you in contact with any of the services straight away. 

By compiling all key information in one place, your support map will serve as a valuable reminder that you are never alone, even when things get tough.

What are the Neuro Navigate Sessions? 🧭

Neuro Navigate Sessions are specialized programs or workshops designed to support neurodivergent individuals, such as those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, or other neurological differences. 

These sessions typically focus on helping participants navigate various aspects of university, such as academic achievement, work, social environments, or personal development, with a particular emphasis on the unique challenges they face.

Important: You do not need to be clincially/officially diagnosed to attend any of these sessions/events (including those below) if you are self or peer diagnosed, please come along! We understand that diagnosis is a privilege and encourage anyone identifying as neurodivergent to attend! 

What is Neuro Network? ♾

The JMSU Neuro Network campaign is designed to support neurodivergent students at LJMU by creating a sense of belonging and fostering a supportive community. 

Throughout the 2024/2025 Academic Year, JMSU will be running the following activities. 

Dopamine Days: Neurodiversity friendly meet ups and activities throughout the year for neurodivergent students to come unwind and socialise.

Neuro Navigate: Support sessions delivered in collab with Careers and Specialist Study Skills, as well as dedicated quiet spaces booked out by JMSU during busy assessment periods.

ND Student Insight: To gain understanding of areas for improvement, what support you need and activities you'd like to see.
